An ancient African Dream Herb:
Entada Rheedii (African Dream Herb)

Endata rheedii is a tropical climbing vine that produces large dark brown seeds. The seeds can be found all over the world because they are water tight and have a tiny pocket of air inside their shell which allows them to float on water and to be carried down rivers and on ocean currents. The vine grows in tropical climates near waterways, next to rivers, lakes and oceans. It can be found growing in all the countries that surround the Indian Ocean, and as far away as the Gulf of Mexico and Florida.

Entada rheedii has been used by aboriginal tribes for hundreds of years, and is known by many different common names: African dream herb, Entada phaseolides, Matchbox bean, Mimosa entada, Sea bean, Sea heart, Snuff box sea bean; as well as many native names like: Balugo, Garambi, Gogo, Gogong-bakai, Kakavalli and Tamayan.

In South Africa, native tribal healers or shaman consume the seed to help them communicate with their ancestors. They believe that they can communicate with the dead in their dreams, and by eating the seeds they are able to improve their ability to remember and recall their dreams, and their ability to have lucid dreams. The tradition of communing with their ancestors dates back hundreds of years, the medicine men speak to their spirit ancestors in their dreams, they ask for guidance, insight into health problems, they also seek information about the future and advice on how to plan for the future. Their culture reveres the underworld as the link between the gods and themselves, and through their dreams they are able to gain insight and understanding about their medical conditions and possible future.

The shaman simple eats the inner part of the seed shortly before bedtime, the essential oils in the nut help lull the shaman into a tranquil and serene state of meditation. African Dream Herb facilitates memory, recall and clarity of mind as the shaman passes from ordinary waking consciousness, through soporific drowsiness and into hypnogogic visions, hallucinations and ordinary dreams that eventually lead to lucid dreams. The Shaman then communicates with their ancestors, asking important questions and receiving divine answers that they believe come directly from their gods.

Entada rheedii is certainly a powerful dream herb, when used regularly and as part of a healthy balanced diet, it can allow one to easily recall their dreams, achieve lucidity and allow one to harness their dreams for their benefit. The seed will help one fall asleep, maintain dream states and produce longer, more vivid and more easily remembered dreams. The seed definitely facilitates increased awareness and memory during dreams, allowing the sleeper to become conscious of their dream and to become lucid and to be able to manipulate their dream. African Dream Herb is a great enhancer of dreams, and equal in potency and effect as the renowned dream herb Calea Zacatechichi.
